Course
Swim — 1500m or 500m
Swim in Athabasca Landing 25m pool (4705-48 Avenue, Athabasca). We will seed swimmers in each lane and you will complete 60 lengths (standard) or 20 lengths (sprint) of the pool. Volunteers will count your laps and put a flutterboard in the water when you have 2 lengths remaining.
Please ensure that you can complete your estimated swim time that you've marked on the registration form. You will be assigned a wave number and start time.
Note: assistive devices may be used on consultation with race director
Bike — 40km or 20 km
Standard (40km) bike course will travel from Athabasca Landing Pool 2 blocks north to highway 55 and continue travelling out and back on highways 827 and 663 before returning to the pool and transition area. You will be travelling in mixed traffic so please use caution on the roadways, be respectful of other cyclists, and obey rules of the road. Sprint (20km) bike course will travel the same route as standard, but will turn around after 10km (crossing traffic) and return to the pool/transition area. There will be an aide station at the turnaround. Drafting will not be permitted. It is up to the participant to ensure that his or her bicycle is in proper working condition. ANSI/ SNELL/ CSA approved helmets are mandatory.
Run — 10km or 5km
Both standard and sprint runs will travel from Athabasca Landing pool 1km on pavement to Muskeg Creek Trails, and will continue on the trails' forested, rolling hills for the specified distance. Both distances will be marked with colour-coded ribbon and signs. There will be aide stations.
Transition zone
